FLIGHT SAFETY

Flying with a perpetually moving 10 month old infant on a 20 centimetre squared part of a tin of sardines with a budget airline (that we will call Brian Air for now,) is not as bad as you think it is going to be!
We decided last minute that Teddy and I would join Daddy Pig Dom in Norway as he was over there for work. So I packed as quickly and as lightly as I ever had and off I trotted across London to Stansted.

A semi-nervous "wish me luuuuuck" Instagram post to the outside world to make everyone think I'm a mumboss and lockdown. Just me, Teddy and a plane full of people that represented who I used to be before I had him: footloose and fancy free, with only a passport, a book, and a desire to be out of earshot.
I quickly learned the key to a successful flight with baby: snacks. And don't order any hot drinks. They have to sit (wriggle) on your lap, so this is dangerous to all involved.... luckily I ordered a tea and it never arrived anyway, so we were fine.
I had a little stash of food for Teddy that I was ready to give to him at the first sign of boredom (incidentally, the opportunity arose before we'd even taken off.) Tried and tested snacks that didn't usually get thrown straight on the floor, such as sweet potato wedges roasted in coconut oil with cinnamon and home made refined sugar free flapjacks.

To make the flapjacks, mash half a ripe banana, sprinkle over a handful of oats, a pinch of cinnamon and some raisins and mix into a thick paste. Press the mixture into a bowl and microwave for 2 minutes until cooked and firm. Allow to cool and you have a fist friendly, airplane friendly, delicious baby snack!
